About Jahfreei Taylor

 Jahfreei Taylor

I was born in Yuma Arizona on 12/6/1954. I was raised in San Diego California. I started playing the guitar in 1974 and discovered reggae music in 1980. I played in 2 reggae bands in San Diego from 1983 until 1989. One of the reggae that I played in, Cornerstone, was the top local reggae band and Quino of the band Big Mountain was a member.

In 1989 I moved to Hawaii and played with several reggae bands. While there I was able to play with one of the founding members of The Rastafarians and the percussion player for the Wailers. I also was a member in the same band with Little D from jamaica.

I moved to Eugene in 1998 to form a band with a drummer that I met in Hawaii. We formed Ancient Youth and the band was successful until the band broke up in 2000. I later formed a band with my wife called Vibenation that was successful until the band took a break in 2008.

My musical influences are Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Burning Spear, LKJ, Jimi Hendrix and Smokey Robinson.

I have recorded 3 CD’s and performed at festivals a venues in Eugene, Florence, Yachats and Portland. I have appeared on TV and radio. I attended the University of Oregon and majored in History and minored in music.
